IMAGINATION

There is a time for the theatre. --If people's imagination grows weak there arises in it the inclination to have its legends presented to it on the stage: it can now endure these crude substitutes for imagination. But for those ages to which the epic rhapsodist belongs, the theatre and the actor disguised as a hero is a hindrance to imagination rather than a means of giving it wings: too close, too definite, too heavy, too little in it of dream and bird-flight.

But of course the rhapsodist, who here appears only one step removed from the shaman (". . . dream and bird-flight") must also be called a kind of medium or bridge standing between "a people" and its imagination. (Note: we'll use the word "imagination" sometimes in Wm. Blake's sense & sometimes in Gaston Bachelard's sense without opting for either a "spiritual" or an "aesthetic" determination, & without recourse to metaphysics.) A bridge carries across ("translate," "metaphor") but is not the original. And to translate is to betray. Even the rhapsodist provides a little poison for the imagination.

Ethnography, however, allows us to assert the possibility of societies where shamans are not specialists of the imagination, but where everyone is a special sort of shaman. In these societies, all members (except the psychically handicapped) act as shamans & bards for themselves as well as for their people. For example: certain Amerindian tribes of the Great Plains developed the most complex of all hunter/gatherer societies quite late in their history (perhaps partly in thanks to the gun & horse, technologies adopted from European culture). Each person acquired complete identity & full membership in "the People" only thru the Vision Quest & its artistic enactment for the tribe. Thus each person became an "epic rhapsodist" in sharing this individuality with the collectivity.

The Pygmies, among the most "primitive" cultures, neither produce nor consume their music, but become en masse "the Voice of the Forest." At the other end of the scale, among complex agricultural societies, like Bali on the verge of the 2Oth century, "everyone is an artist" (& in 1980 a Javanese mystic told me, "Everyone must be an artist!).

The goals of Immediatism lie somewhere along the trajectory described roughly by these three points (Pygmies, Plains Indians, Balinese), which have all been linked to the anthropological concept of "democratic shamanism." Creative acts, themselves the outer results of the Inwardness of imagination, are not mediated & alienated (in the sense we've been using those terms) when they are carried out BY everyone FOR everyone--when they are produced but not reproduced--when they are shared but not fetishized. Of course these acts are achieved thru mediation of some sort & to some extent as are all acts--but they have not yet become forces of extreme alienation between some Expert/Priest/Producer on the one hand & some hapless "layperson" or consumer on the other.

Different media therefore exhibit different degrees of mediation--& perhaps they can even be ranked on that basis. Here everything depends on reciprocity, on a more-or-less equal exchange of what may be called "quanta of imagination." In the case of the epic rhapsodist who mediates vision for the tribe, a great deal of work--or active dreaming--still remains to be done by the hearers. They must participate imaginatively in the act of telling/hearing, & must call up images from their own stores of creative power to complete the rhapsodist's act.

In the case of Pygmy music the reciprocity becomes nearly as complete as possible, since the entire tribe mediates vision only & precisely for the entire tribe;--while for the Balinese, reciprocity assumes a more complex economy is which specialization is highly articulated, in which "the artist is not a special kind of person, but each person is a special kind of artist."

In the "ritual theater" of Voodoo & Santeria, everyone present must participate by visualizing the loas or orishas (imaginal archetypes), & by calling upon them (with "signature" chants & rhythms) to manifest. Anyone present may become a "horse" or medium for one of these santos, whose words & actions then assume for all celebrants the aspect of the presence of the spirit (i.e. the possessed person does not represent but presents). This structure, which also underlies Indonesian ritual theater, may be taken as exemplary for the creative production of "democratic shamanism. " In order to construct our scale of imagination for all media, we may start by comparing this "voodoo theater" with the 18th century European theater described by Nietzsche.

In the latter, nothing of the original vision (or "spirit") is actually present. The actors merely re-present--they are "disguised."It is not expected that any member of troupe or audience will suddenly become possessed (or even "inspired" to any great extent) by the playwright's images. The actors are specialists or experts of representation, while the audience are "laypeople" to whom various images are being transferred. The audience is passive, too much is being done for the audience, who are indeed locked in place in darkness & silence, immobilized by the money they've paid for this vicarious experience.

Artaud, who realized this, attempted to revive ritual voodoo theater (banished from Western Culture by Aristotle)--but he carried out the attempt within the very structure (actor/audience) of aristotelian theater; he tried to destroy or mutate it from the inside out. He failed & went insane, setting off a whole series of experiments which culminated in the Living Theater's assault on the actor/audience barrier, a literal assault which tried to force audience members to "participate" in the ritual. These experiments produced some great theater, but all failed in their deepest purpose. None managed to overcome the alienation Nietzsche & Artaud had criticized.

Even so, Theater occupies a much higher place on the imaginal Scale than other & later media such as film. At least in theater actors & audience are physically present in the same space together, allowing for the creation of what Peter Brook calls the "invisible golden chain" of attention & fellow-feeling between actors & audience--the well-known "magic" of theater. With film, however, this chain is broken. Now the audience sits alone in the dark with nothing to do, while the absent actors are represented by gigantic icons. Always the same no matter how many times it is "shown," made to be reproduced mechanically, devoid of all "aura, " film actually forbids its audience to "participate"--film has no need of the audience's imagination. Of course, film does need the audience's money, & money is a kind of concretized imaginal residue, after all.

Eisenstein would point out that montage establishes a dialectic tension in film which engages the viewer's mind--intellect & imagination--& Disney might add (if he were capable of ideology) that animation increases this effect because animation is, is effect, completely made up of montage. Film too has its "magic." Granted. But from the point of view of structure we have come a long way from voodoo theater & democratic shamanism--we have come perilously close to the commodification of the imagination, & to the alienation of commodity-relations. We have almost resigned our power of flight, even of dream-flight.

Books? Books as media transmit only words--no sounds, sights, smells or feels, all of which are left up to the reader's imagination. Fine... But there's nothing "democratic" about books. The author/publisher produces, you consume. Books appeal to "imaginative" people, perhaps, but all their imaginal activity really amounts to passivity, sitting alone with a book, letting someone else tell the story. The magic of books has something sinister about it, as in Borges's Library. The Church's idea of a list of damnable books probably didn't go far enough--for in a sense, all books are damned. The eros of the text is a perversion--albeit, nevertheless, one to which we are addicted, & in no hurry to kick.

As for radio, it is clearly a medium of absence--like the book only more so, since books leave you alone in the light, radio alone in the dark. The more exacerbated passivity of the "listener" is revealed by the fact that advertisers pay for spots on radio, not in books (or not very much). Nevertheless radio leaves a great deal more imaginative "work" for the listener than, say, television for the viewer. The magic of radio: one can use it to listen to sunspot radiation, storms on Jupiter, the whizz of comets. Radio is old-fashioned; therein lies its seductiveness. Radio preachers say, "Put your haaands on the Radio, brothers & sisters, & feel the heeeeaaaling power of the Word!" Voodoo Radio?

(Note: A similar analysis of recorded music might be made: i.e., that it is alienating but not yet alienated. Records replaced family amateur music-making. Recorded music is too ubiquitous, too easy--that which is not present is not rare. And yet there's a lot to be said for scratchy old 78s played over distant radio stations late at night--a flash of illumination which seems to spark across all the levels of mediation & achieve a paradoxical presence.)

It's in this sense that we might perhaps give some credence to the otherwise dubious proposition that "radio is good--television evil!" For television occupies the bottom rung of the scale of imagination in media. No, that's not true. "Virtual Reality" is even lower. But TV is the medium the Situationists meant when they referred to "the Spectacle." Television is the medium which Immediatism most wants to overcome. Books, theater, film & radio all retain what Benjamin called "the utopian trace" (at least in potential)--the last vestige of an impulse against alienation, the last perfume of the imagination. TV however began by erasing even that trace. No wonder the first broadcasters of video were the Nazis. TV is to the imagination what virus is to the DNA. The end. Beyond TV there lies only the infra-media realm of no-space/no-time, the instantaneity & ecstasis of CommTech, pure speed, the downloading of consciousness into the machine, into the program - in other words, hell.

Does this mean that Immediatism wants to "abolish television"? No, certainly not--for Immediatism wants to be a game, not a political movement, & certainly not a revolution with the power to abolish any medium. The goals of Immediatism must be positive, not negative. We feel no calling to eliminate any "means of production" (or even re-production) which might after all some day fall into the hands of "a people.)

We have analyzed media by asking how much imagination is involved in each, & how much reciprocity, solely in order to implement for ourselves the most effective means of solving the problem outlined by Nietzsche & felt so painfully by Artaud, the problem of alienation. For this task we need a rough hierarchy of media, a means of measuring their potential for our uses. Roughly, then, the more imagination is liberated & shared, the more useful the medium.

Perhaps we can no longer call up spirits to possess us, or visit their realms as the shamans did. Perhaps no such spirits exist or perhaps we are too "civilized" to recognize them. Or perhaps not. The creative imagination, however, remains for us a reality--& one which we must explore, even in the vain hope of our salvation.

Knowing your heartfelt commitment to making a difference for good in the world, not only for today, but for generations to come, THE CHILDRENS’ PROGRAM is an opportunity for you to impact the world on a massive scale.

THE CHALLENGE

All over the world our children are being systematically indoctrinated with misleading, twisted, and untrue, propaganda telling them that murder, hate, and killing by committing suicide, are noble and holy practices which will be rewarded both here and in the hereafter by God. We see so called "schools" and institutions which use food and sweets as a lure and where even such beloved icons as Mickey Mouse are being used to propagate a virulent message of hate to innocent and undistcriminating minds. The wholesale destruction of high ideals in the minds of the young is not limited to any one group, but is pervading the whole of society today.

It is a known fact that any belief system absorbed at a very early age into the minds of our children will inform their decisions and actions for the rest of their lives, and so impact the future of the world.

It is a vital importance then, to see that our children are exposed to ideas and ideals of the highest value and benefit to them, that are fun and pleasurably presented so they are easily absorbed. To that end THE CHILDRENS' PROGRAM was created.

THE SOLUTION

The program is based on a series of children’s books using animals to teach universal truths and ideals. Stories such as “The Little Blue Monkey,” which teaches not to hate somebody just because they ‘re different. “ Hathi and the Penguin,” which explains that though there is one God, God has many different names. And that all the different names of God are good. In “ Rabbit and Raccoon,” Raccoon learns the secret of happiness by choosing to only think good thoughts, speak only good words, and do only good deeds. For as Raccoon says to Rabbit, “ thinking good thoughts, speaking good words, and doing good deeds, makes me feel good, makes me happy. And happy is all we ever really want to be!” The books are illustrated with charming line drawings of the animals, which can be colored, and fit nicely into the pocket. As the books express no cast or creed, religion of politics, they can go everywhere and be accepted by all and have been. The books, after being read to the children, then discussed, and sometimes acted out in a play, are then given to each child to take home, where the message then goes into the community as parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters, get to share the stories. ( Unbelievably! A man we met got his PHD doing his thesis on Hathi and the Penguin ) along with the books a treat is also given – sometimes bananas and hot milk, whole meal cookies and milk, or even a nutritious meal depending on our facility and ability.

START UP

For the past year we have been doing this program in a small way to see how and if it would work. The results were even more amazing than expected. Not only was it accepted everywhere but most important we learned that goodness when reinforced and encouraged is the true nature of children.

WHO

The program is being done under auspices of Food Relief International – The Servants of Charity, a registered charity, which makes your donation tax exempt. The program itself is being run by committed volunteers, who are already in place in countries all over the world. The volunteers take no salary, because they see this as an opportunity to make a real contribution and because having seen for themselves the importance of this work they passionately believe in it. They have understood – "nothing will change until the consciousness is changed.”

WHAT IT WILL TAKE

The cost is only 50 cents per child which includes, food, books, and expenses. Because each book will impact the lives of more than one child at least two or more children are affected for the cost of one. Our goal is to reach 80,000 and more children over the next two years. To achieve this we will need a budget of $20,000.

Introducing GiraSol (Sunflower), a new permaculture settlement breaking ground in November 2007. We invite you to be a part of this amazing experience by participating in a nine-day course designed to bring you competency in Permaculture and Earthen Building Methods.

Imagine yourself as part of that community…Living. Building. Playing.

This nine-day intensive design/build studio will combine natural building techniques (cobb, adobe, stone, straw/clay, passive/active heating systems) with presentations, discussions, exercises, and fun field trips.

GiraSol’s ground-breaking workshop will provide training in regenerative village design, natural construction and permaculture theory while establishing the GiraSol information center through hands-on work. The design will integrate a century-old adobe structure into a whimsical new building, seemingly sprung from the canvas of a Maxfield Parrish painting.

Led by mOceaN (Mark Lakeman), Lydia Doleman and Martin Shulke of Portland’s City Repair Project, the GiraSol Intensive will take place from 10/27/07 to 11/04/07. We will be camping as a group in the beautiful Baja desert, and all meals will be provided.

Basics

Location: GiraSol is a 200-acre parcel situated in Valle de las Palmas (Valley of the Palms), about 20 miles south of the U.S./Mexico Border and 30 miles from the Pacific Ocean between the major cities of Tijuana, Ensenada & Tecate. This new Center is on a vast tract of beautiful land in the valley, along a road from Ensenada to Tecate which is currently under construction. This road will bring unprecedented real estate development to this relatively undisturbed agrarian area. GiraSol strives to be a jewel in the Baja landscape by providing an example of sustainable community design.

Course Description: You will receive training AND become competent in the following areas:

1. regenerative village design and earthen building methods
2. biomass accumulation and use, plastering
3. roof framing
4. integrated landscaping
5. water catchment, re-use, and finishing methods.

Construction will be accompanied by discussions of the ecological features and benefits of each building phase. Through two field trips we will explore the local community by travelling to a wildlife preserve and taking part in Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead).

KLab9:Art - Technology, Authorship and Ways of Living
A weekend gathering for collaborative and creative reflection. 5th - 7th October, 2007 tbc.
Institute for Advanced Studies, Lancaster University, North West England.

INTRODUCTION

The Knowledge Lab is an attempt to provide a collective space for anti-capitalist reflection. It is located at the margin of the university, an institution essentially geared towards the production of knowledge as a resource for corporate interest and as justification for particular constellations of power relations.
This knowledge lab will address art and ways of critically thinking about our world. Within this broad region of enquiry, the lab will encompass notions of life and art as a political commitment, the influence art can exert in politics and how political ideas in turn influence art. It will also address new ways of making art and how this relates to technologies and social changes, and the use of art as an anti-capitalist means to change and fight the system.

We hope that the knowledge lab will not merely address, but also show that art can initiate critical thinking in the various guises outlined above. Our expectations, in terms of the event, and its outcome, are that this be a sharing of creative ideas and ideas about creativity. We hope that it will draw together people with a common interest in art and alternative ways of living, but working in different fields. From this collective thinking we hope that people will be incited to realize, or make manifest, some of these ways of living and thinking creatively when they leave: We will learn from each other.

STREAMS

Like previous knowledge labs the day will be divided into four streams, each will take place in a separate room.

STREAM 1: TECHNOLOGY Free software, art spaces and interfaces, hardware, DIY and recycling/reusing.

STREAM 2: WAYS OF LIVING This stream concerns process, moment and performance. It is the political stream where we will consider primarily imaginative resistance and artivism, but also touch on debates surrounding gender issues, community and cultural production, and personal/political. We hope to see papers touching on initiatives in direct democracy; the art of changing that system, and the paradigms of inspiration. We would like to discuss how artivism will change society, possibles networks of artivists, ways of action.

STREAM 3: AUTHORSHIP Copy rights, ownership, patenting, and appropriation. (Creative commons, Copyleft,...)

STREAM 4: THE ART MARKET (new ways of) curating, spaces (physical and virtual) to show art, ways of making money: Marketing, the means of production, market forces and anti-market forces, the art market, and art and ethics.

CONTRIBUTIONS

Each day will be split into two parts. On Saturday and Sunday morning papers will be presented in each of the four streams, each lasting 20-30 minutes. Papers will be followed by a brief question period of 10-15 minutes. The afternoon will be divided into discussion periods in each of the four streams. During the weekend there will also be a separate space for workshops and performances.
There are therefore a variety of ways to contribute to the weekend. See below for details:

ACADEMIC PAPERS

The list of streams is not prescriptive, it simply outlines some of the issues we envisage arising given the general themes.

Please also send papers on other themes, these will be gratefully considered.

Submit an abstract of no more than 500 words. In addition please enclose a brief biography. Try to make this, along with your paper, as accessible as possible.

FACILITATED DISCUSSIONS (INVOLVEMENT AND SKILLS SHARING)

If you have an idea for one of the afternoon discussion topics that links in with one of the four streams then send in a your idea and think about one of the two types of involvement below:

If you'd like to take a more pro-active role during the conference, you might want to ADOPT a session - that is, prepare it in advance (suggest questions, main issues, reading material etc and propose the length of the session), arrive prepared for discussion themselves, attend it, and participate passionately in the debates.

We also need people to FACILITATE sessions - ideally a session should NOT be adopted and facilitated by the same person(s). Consider that facilitators are usually best if experienced in their task. Any which way, please get in touch.

== WORKSHOPS, ARTWORKS, AND PERFORMANCES ==

These will broadly tie in with one of the four streams above. Send a proposal [Max: A single side of A4], elaborate on: What your contribution will be e.g. a workshop, a performance, an artwork. How long you envisage it taking. Do you need any equipment or materials? Do you want to limit the number of participants? If so, how many? What do you hope will be born out of this? How do you propose to arrive at this end?

SATURDAY EVENING

DJ and VJ session: Call for DJs and VJs to send in samples so they might come and contribute to an evening of art in many guises. As well as other music, visual, perfomance, etc artist and Artivist.
Nb. Groups are welcome to contribute workshops, materials for display and/or distribution.

The Crucible dream

The Crucible dream

I am in a really nice, rich house. It’s full of antiques and pictures and nice desks to write on, big oak tables, etc.

My psychic friend Violet is there. She is older than me, and very human, gracious, not as slick a psychic as The Oracle woman on the movie, Matrix, but insightful none-the-less.

Wynona Rider is before us, telling us she is possessed by a ghost. I am skeptic. I say “I don’t feel any presence of a ghost here!” Wynona gets antsy, and Violet leans over and says “Listen to her; she has a story to tell. You might not believe a ghost possesses her, but she does.”

So I take Violet’s advice and listen to Wynona. I realize that I can help her exorcise this ghost. I agree to do this, and tell them both that I need to go to my room and get some tools, and that I’d be right back. We agree to meet in the basement.

In my room, up above my Telektonon board, I see three tarot cards, the Thoth deck, 2 of Disks Change and the Magus, Trump I. As I pick up the 2 of Disks I see a whole history, a flow of magick within the card, like it has a history of its own, a dream life of its own, (it’s hard to put into exact words, more symbolical). I gather that card, the same happens when I reach out for the Magus card, and I take it too, knowing that I am taking tools of power, they contain the magick. As I glance down I see the Yellow Human Mayan card and the same thing with it, and also White Mirror, Etznab, and I take these four cards and head for the basement.

I open the basement door and there is an auditorium, with a stage. The Television is there, cameras, and over to the side are some judges, here to investigate and evaluate my work. The audience is sparse, but there are about 100 people, (the auditorium could hold five times that many people). Wynona is waiting on stage and Violet is in the front row. I glance at Violet, and then glare at her. I storm out, wondering why Violet could exploit me like this, not telling me in advance this would be done in front of an audience.

As I am walking away, I realize Wynona need this exorcism and I can do it, whether I believe she is possessed by a ghost or not. I realize that I have to rise above these feelings of exploitation and go back in there and help her. As I head back to the auditorium, I hear Eric’s voice “Honey, I need your help with the turkey.” EOD.

Comment: I was at work last night working with Alyse, and she is a kool gal, we danced to the Cure on the radio, as we were making sandwiches and talked about being gay, Wicca, etc. She mentioned she was in the play The Crucible in High School, and I had some vague understanding this was about the burning times. I came home, and was relaxing, when the movie The Crucible, with Wynona Rider was on TV, about the Salem Witch trials. Even the judges where the men and women in the movie, who sentenced innocent women to be burned at the stake.

This dream is about my dream job, its also containing the five elements, in a very unique way. What I realized in waking life, in talking to my friends Lars, Jay and Sara is that its in the listening and being present with someone is more important than forcing or causing transformation. Its more effective. It’s the highest form of magick in the New Aeon. We only have to look at the falling away of the energies that symbolize the Piscean Age of the last two thousand years, and look at the awakening energies of Aquarius, in the dawning of this new aeon. I personally think it’s the collapse of the leader, protector, ruler dialectic and the enhancement of the individual discoverying their true will, thereby transforming the culture and society. These are the old Piscean ghosts that need exercising in favor of the Aquarian spirits we are unleashing. We are in the crucible, the two towers have been struck, the oblisk has vibrated and sang on the Moon and the monkies are evolving beyond the planet of the apes. We are becoming enlightened, and naturally a more enlightened world will finally emerge.

Goddess dream

Sometimes I have deep dreams, that end up just becoming fragments of memory when I awaken, because there is so much going on in the dream.

Last night I dream this woman was speaking to me about my spirituality, I took her to be Nuit, the Goddess, and she was addressing my understanding of Thelema, True Will and spiritual evolution. She was giving me some great ideas and insights.

Sometimes I find a fragment more full than a totally remembered epic dream.

At least I know there is some deep contemplation going on about my favorite topic, the Right Use of Will.

LA Decompression 06 - Thank you's to all!

Hello Lovely Tribesters,

Brian Birbiglia here with The Venice Vibe Tribe comin’ at ya’ with a whole lot of appreciation, adoration and gratitude.

I wanted to send out a personal thank you to all those that supported last weekends extravaganza, LA Decompression. One hundred thousand thank you’s could never express the way that I feel and the wonderful success that was achieved by all those that participated.

The Venice Vibe Tribe and I would like to give credit where credit is due and I am sure that other members of my tribe may be sending something out to express themselves and how they feel. This is from me!

First and Foremost, a great deal of admiration and accommodation goes out to The Fire Poise Dancers, Performers and the DJ’s. Magnificent and thrilling performances, and it was all of you that gave us the motivation behind our setup.

Secondly, my appreciation and high regards to the providers of the astonishingly extravagant art. Without it, we would have only had a blank canvas. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Thirdly, to all those that volunteered their time, effort and gave so much of themselves not only to benefit our effort, but to enlighten the experience of all of the internally beautiful people in attendance! Much gratitude and appreciation are bestowed on you from me and all of us.

Finally, thank you BRC committee and rangers for their efforts in organizing and putting this thing all together. We love you and we when we think about you, we’re already half way home!

Am I forgetting anyone? If so, please bring it to my attention and I will be glad to give you proper praise…. because everyone truly deserves it!

One Final note before I wrap this up.

I wanted to thank Bobby I and The Venice Vibe Tribe Team that participated in setting up this event. Dream Creativity

I had a creative streak this week, writing lots. I just had a flash, as I was reading a piece written by one of my team members over at Sea Life, maybe all that poor dream recall means is more than our attention being stolen by world events or personal stress, maybe it is our brains way of preparing us to be creative. I am thinking that at times of poor dream recall, we are to be creative, if we write, write up a storm, if we play music, make much music, if we take photos, go out and shoot that camera, if we dance, dance till we drop, and so on. Just a thought. I mean we are doing all this dreaming, and then what?

St. Germain - Defeat Dark Cabal's Terror and War

As we have often informed you, we have the advantage of seeing into the activities of Earth. We presently see much happening and the Middle East is continuing to become unstable. Much of this is deliberately brought about by the dark forces, who look for situations that can be used to sustain the chaos.

For our part we closely watch the developments and have what you would call inside knowledge. This enables us to counteract some of the plans to escalate the problems. We use the existing circumstances and turn them around to prevent matters getting totally out of hand. As usual the conflicts are fully in your eyes, and it challenges you to take some action to bring calmness and find a peaceful solution.

The voice of those who seek world peace grows stronger, and this gives us the authority to proceed with our plan to bring a halt to wars. As with any individual so with humanity as a whole, we need your “permission” to intervene. Your freewill is the guiding force, and as much as we would like to bring an end to your problems right now, there are other considerations.

What you are going through is conditioning you so that you will know the right response in future. It is generally accepted that Atlantis really existed and met its demise some 10,000 years ago. Imagine the trauma and lasting effect that experience had upon those involved. It would be natural that you would say “never again” and here you are traveling a similar path that also spells disaster. That is, it would if you did nothing about it, and that is your challenge this time around.

Deep within the psyche of so many of you is the memory of the last days of Atlantis. The end was dramatic and quick, but the landmasses were already breaking up a long time beforehand. You saw the signs that pointed the way to destruction and failed to stop them. This time you face a similar problem, and it is no good looking the other way otherwise the inevitable will happen. To your credit there is a strong movement of various groups, that are seeking to bring a halt to the last cabals insane headlong rush into war. Your efforts are making a difference and help defuse the situation. You are much more powerful than you realize, and the thought form for positive change gathers pace.

This time around you vowed that you would not idly sit by and allow the dark to operate with impunity. Many are stirred into action as a result, and your combined efforts are paying off. Do not for one moment believe that the dark are too powerful to topple as they are not, and already they are frustrated in their efforts to get a greater grip on the people. Every individual effort makes for a formidable force for good. You really are winning this battle, but are unlikely to realize it until the outcome is clearly seen.

There will come a time not too far away when you will look back with incredibility, to think you were instrumental in bringing peace and change to the world. We have never wavered in our expectations about you, and the plan for the end times is safe in your hands. The Creator could alter things at a stroke, but that is not necessary or indeed desirable if you are to leave this cycle with your heads held high. You are far enough down the road to victory to not turn back, you only need to keep focused on the outcome you desire.

People of the Light understand their responsibilities to Man, and never stop working to create the conditions that are favorable to an end of the darkness that engulfs your world at present. You have spent far too long wasting your energies and time preparing for one war after another, and it is now becoming widely accepted that you cannot continue to go on this way. The movement for change continues unabated and it gathers strength through the efforts of the many various groups working for peace.

There will come a time when you will look back at this period, and find it unbelievable that you succeeded in bringing peace to a world that was in turmoil. You will already have risen above the lower dimensions, and know for certainty that there will be no return to the days of old. Your new experience will be in the realms of Light and you will have no worries or the burden of physical needs, and will become co-creators with God. Your every need will be created instantly through your power of thought. You have yet to feel the beauty and joy of the higher dimensions, with their unending creations and wonderful Beings that inhabit them. The pain and heartache of life upon Earth will soon be forgotten, amid the happiness and everlasting love that will surround you. This is your real home and it awaits your return.

Vote for the Circus of Collective Consciousness art?

So, we're trying to decide about what the logo and flyer art for the upcoming dream co:llective event should be and figured why not put it to the people to decide. So a little background, this is going to be a June 3rd 3 stage 3 style thang on the ranch (locale of green sector parties), fthe Circus of Collective Consciousness. It's the CCC, rather than the PPP and we are a few of the organizers this year so we'll be featuring an Atlantis themed stage in honor of this rained out Pisces Passion Party that so many of us poured our hearts, time and energy into, only to get shut down by Mother Nature!

This party will also be filmed for my pilot episode of the TV series I'm writing called This Evolution Must Be Televised, about those living a life of human artistry and what this does to up the level of consciousness in our society, widening the third eye perspective and showing the world just how much human beauty we are capable of producing in the performance artist community.
It's a world filled with sonic shamans and those who consider music a divine flow worth worshipping, elemental dancers, circus folk and spiritual warriors, word magic, creation force and faeries, elves, clowns, fools and all kinds of animal folk.
It's a blend of the natural and that which is thought up in the heated minds of mankind:ORGANICA

Two years ago, Ethan Watters proffered one of the politest "fuck you's" to conservative commentators in recent memory. It took the form of a New York Times article that coined the term "urban tribes." Then single and in his late twenties, Watters wrote the piece partially to refute the assumptions of marriage "experts" and right-wing pundits that his was a lifestyle fueled by solipsism and self-indulgence.

Like most of the thirty-seven million young Americans who are choosing to postpone marriage for their thirties and beyond, Watters belonged to a tight-knit group of friends that were, as he wrote, “struggling to do something creative and support each other as they lived life between the families they grew up in and the families they might someday start for themselves.” Did they have extra free time on their hands? Certainly. Did they embrace hedonism? At times, like it was their best friend. But to Watters, these groups had value far beyond the guarantee that someone would be around to pass the hallucinogenic; that value suggested the urban tribe could even revitalize marriage.

Almost instantly after the article was published, Watters became the spokesperson for "never marrieds," one of the fastest-growing groups in America. Apparently, he wasn’t the only one dissatisfied with reductive portrayals of his generation. Watters received hundreds of phone calls and emails from people eager to tell him about their own friend groups, be it a New York tribe that described itself as "the incest club," a group of "ultimate Frisbee-playing MBAs from Boston," or an L.A. tribe so racially diverse it "looked like the UN." In his new book, Urban Tribes, Watters relays many of these stories, along with comical memories from his own tribal days. He recently spoke with Nerve about the redemptive value of friendship (and Friendster). — Tobin Levy

Is the urban tribe a new phenomenon, or have you simply given a name to something that's been around for generations?
It's not new in the sense that this is an organic, natural thing that human beings do. In previous generations, people who lived in a city outside of a [traditional] family would form groups like this. It's exactly what you see in gay and lesbian cultures over the last century. In fact, the people who write about gay and lesbian culture have thought a lot more about the meaning of friendship and groups of friends than heterosexuals have.

How has the relative importance of friendship groups changed in recent years?
The difference with our generation is twofold. One is that many more people are living their lives outside of a family — particularly many more women. The second, and most important, distinction is that we're doing this much longer than any other generation. The difference between a group of friends that will exist for three years after college, and one that exists for thirteen years after college, is dramatic. With every additional year that you live within a social group, that group has a tendency to become more distinct. The roles people take within that group become more defined. The rituals become more ritualized and more meaningful, and the more likely the group is to continue into another year.

Can the internet be credited, at least in part, for the rise of the urban tribe?
I'm a good example of why the answer to that question is probably “No”. Most of my tribe years were pre-internet. I know it seems crazy to imagine that, but this thing happened in my life long before those [friend] connections were facilitated by e-mail. However, there's a potential for larger communities to be created from these smaller, individual groups because of this technology.

Do you ever look at Friendster?
I do, and if Friendster had come into my worldview before I finished the book, I certainly would have written about it.

The site is an exact visual representation of what you're writing about. You must feel gratified.
Absolutely. I immediately sent an advance copy of my book to [Friendster founder] Jonathan Abrams, and he was gratified that I was identifying [on paper] the phenomenon he was creating through the internet. Abrams has literally illustrated one of the points I make in the book about the importance of the weak ties — the friends of the friends you haven't met just yet — in our lives. It's the weak ties that make us feel connected to the city we live in. It's the friend of a friend who is going to pass along a job tip that will eventually make its way back to you and change your life next year. I think understanding how your group connects to other people, how it can help this larger community, is important to be conscious of.

Friendster was created as a civilization-building game and as a dating site. What do you think about this instant conflation of potential sex partner and tribe?
You can make the case that Friendster — and urban tribes in general — are not the best way to meet the person of your dreams. You're fundamentally bringing your friends into the selection process. You're allowing them to be more influential than they might otherwise be. And you don't necessarily want to enter a relationship with a whole lot of information flowing from your friends to the new potential partner.

Which leads us to my favorite part of the book, “Queen Bees and Cockblockers.”
The Queen Bee is a woman in the group who wants to have all the flirtatious energy directed toward her. It seems to be a common thing. But like I say in the book, this is not simply a negative role. If you're a single guy and you don't have a date one night, the Queen Bee is likely to give you this fantastic flirtatious attention that's going to make your evening great — even if it doesn't lead to sexual activity. But if you're bringing a new woman to the group, you can generally count on the Queen Bee to say something along the lines of, “Well, she's not good enough for you.” Meaning, "I want to remain the central person people flirt with."

And who's the Cockblocker? I love that word.
He's the guy who tends to throw himself at any potential new romantic partner that comes into the group's orbit. He does so regardless of whether or not he actually has a shot at becoming involved with that person. And it tends to get in the way of other guys in the group, who might like to take a longer path in getting to know this person.

It's interesting that even though there's a familial quality to most tribes, sexual tension seems to be a prevailing theme.
I did notice a latent sexual energy among most urban tribes. There's a lot of touching; people go skinny-dipping together; they give each other massages. They go on road trips and sleep in the same hotel bed. On paper, this is all platonic, but if you look at it emotionally you see there's an ambient sexual charge. All these people are young; all these people are the same age. There's going to be sexual energy there regardless of whether the people in the tribe actually act on it or not. And I think that may actually grow over the years if you stay single and are without a romantic partner for a significant amount of time.

It makes you wonder if in ten or twenty years the urban tribe will have transformed into the urban polyamorous tribe.
This may be the seed of something that will be the next generation's new thing. That they'll make less of a distinction between friendships and people they have sexual lives with. It would be fascinating if it was.

"We're more romantic about marriage than previous generations."

Sex and romance is a primary topic of conversation among tribe members. I'm curious how forthcoming people were with you.
People were extremely forthcoming. I had a survey up [on my website], asking people to email me information about their group. I got more than a thousand responses. People told me everything about their tribes, including very intimate information about the sexual lives within the groups; whether they dated within the groups, fooled around or didn't fool around. I didn't even ask them for the dirt. They simply offered it up.

What was the most surprising group position on inter-tribal dating or fooling around?
There was a wide spectrum. There were groups where dating was not tolerated. In other groups, fooling around was not only tolerated, it was one of the reasons the group existed! People tended to end up with each other at the end of the night.

All the groups you surveyed were unique in terms of size and makeup, but did any patterns emerge in terms of romance?
No real pattern said the average urban tribe is one thing or another. But in the groups where people aren't allowed to date, I think that inevitably someone breaks the rule. Hopefully, one of the unwritten rules of those groups is, if you're going to date make sure you're serious about it. Make sure this is worth the risk to the group. You're going to put us in this situation where we're potentially going to have to choose sides if things go badly. Make sure it's not just a one-night stand. Make sure it has the potential to go the distance.

It's interesting that you say “go the distance.” It surprised me that marriage was something that most of the people you talked to not only wanted, but also held in very high regard.
That is definitely true. I think the vast majority of them are interested in children and long-term loves, and many — I think most — are interested in marriage. I'm very much like my generation in that way. We're hard realists. We've gone through a number of relationships and know that they're difficult, that they change over time, so we're cautious about marriage but not about love. You could even make the case that we're more romantic about marriage, that there's a higher marriage ideal than in previous generations. We don't simply want to find a spouse who can fulfill his or her role as a husband or a wife; we're looking for someone who we're deeply connected to.

And even though tribes often hinder new romantic pursuits outside the group, you suggest that a person's tribe can ultimately help them have a better, more successful marriage or life partner?
I fundamentally believe so, but for a reason that's not particularly obvious. I think tribes are really good at helping you become your best self. That typically makes you more valuable in anything you do in life. Whether professionally or romantically, it makes you a more solid person. In my case, it made me into the person [my wife] Rebecca was interested in marrying. I was a person in and of myself, and I was confident in and of myself, and I think the best way to enter a partnership is not by looking for someone to “complete me.” I think that makes a marriage much more likely to succeed.

Do you consider yourself an advocate of marriage?
Just because my particular story ended with me getting married doesn't mean I'm encouraging people to get married. In fact, the fundamental text of the book is: look for the value in your single years and your single relationships. Don't let culture tell you that you're any less of a person because you're in a “holding pattern.” There's a value in the urban tribe that goes beyond not being lonely. It's valuable to my career and to my sense of self. That is the message of the book.

How do you envision the future of marriage?
Marriage has been stripped of its meaning in terms of a bridge to adulthood, a way to establish your financial life, and the only way you end up having children. When you strip marriage of those meanings, you're encouraging more people not to choose it. And I imagine that's what's going to happen.

Are fewer people getting married now?
Yes. Our generation has delayed it the longest, so we may be forging new ground. But does that mean that, in the end, there will be fewer marriages? Probably, when all is said and done. But how big that percentage is, is kind of an open question.

In your two years of research, what was strangest group you encountered?
One person e-mailed me saying, “I'm an urban tribe of one.” And I kindly tried to e-mail him back and say, “You know, I'm glad you're happy, but if I'm going to be the arbiter of what's an urban tribe and what isn't, I want this definition to be inclusive but not so inclusive as to narrow it down to one."

I am with 8 women. It is just before dawn and we are breaking into a church.

There’s a little chatter about whether we should be doing this or not; but for the most part we are doing it for fun.

We break in by the basement door and then make our way to the main sanctuary. It is sunrise now.

I ask one woman if we are going to sing in the choir.

Suddenly many members of the church start coming in wearing their Sunday best. I guess we are going to be part of a prayer group.

I wander around. I begin to see vendors selling their wares. Everything from clothing to toothpaste, to vitamins. EOD.

Comments: Interesting dream. Not many people breaking into a Church to sing, pray and worship.

Auspicious since tonight is the full moon. Just in time for my ceremony. I wonder if I ought to go to church with Eric? Interesting prospect, being a Thelemite and valuing free thought and free will, magick, etc.

I guess the power of prayer is similar to the intent in magick. I wonder if I am to convert Christians to Thelema? No, we thelemites don’t convert, much.

I did set my intention before sleeping, by asking my dream guide to give me a dream for my highest good.

Also interesting is the 8 women with me.

I guess you can take the Gay Boy out of Christianity, but you can’t take the Christianity out of the Gay Boy. I was Christian about 18 years and I’ve been Thelemite 22 years. I guess its no different than being a Freemason and going to Church with their family. On my Grandmother Dorothy’s side of the family Emmanuel Lamon was head of a Masonic Order in his home town of Harrison, Indiana, as was his son Elbert Lamon. Most of the Lamons were furniture makers.

Aleister Crowley rewrote the rituals of the OTO, Order of the Temple of the Orient. In Lege Judica Tace “Of the Nature of the Arcanum” he wrote about the Way of Attainment and how it was preserved by the Gnostics and Manichees, received from the greatest Magi of Egypt. Crowley writes “Our Lord Jesus Christ established it through the mouth of his Beloved Disciple. This is the True Sacrament by which ye are partakers of the very Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, not his death, but in His resurrection. By this are ye made Children of the Light, Fellows of the Holy Ghost, perfect pure, Companions of the Sangreal, illustrious Knights of the Sacrosanct Order of Kadosch. By this have ye the GNOSIS; by this are ye counted among the Dwellers of the Sanctuary.”

Somewhere in his titles he states that Horus and the Gnostic Christ are one and the same. Obviously a door is open here. I could talk all day. So before I write a book, I’ll stop this correspondence for now. Apart from my comments, what do you think of the dream?

What is the next Stage of Human Evolution?

The transition 'onwards and upwards' occurs when all nodes on previous levels have been activated via conscious awareness. Progression is collective, synthetic, active, awakened. It acknowledges and includes all other states in a similar way that an air plane must include and 'gather together' all the atoms contained within it in order to take off and fly.

The next stages of evolution will take place as we become increasingly aware of our cells. Subtler levels of reality are to become expressed through our bodies, electro-magnetic wires in our brains and nervous systems, hearts, organs and connective networks internally and externally. We dissolve into the flow of nature, seeing that we are already there.

When we truly see, via experience and experimentation, how our behaviours and actions, words and thoughts, motives and fears, desires and concerns are directed by something as simple as sensation - reality takes on a whole new meaning. It simplifies. It makes sense.

This change is inevitable. But it can be catalysed by any individual with the volition or inclination to do so.

The keys to enabling this process to catalyse as I see it are - observing and feeling fully with equanimity (detachment) moment by moment - the experience of being. To slow down into a culturally rarer temporal dimension. Patience. In these moments answers are revealed. Creativity is realised. Fulfilment is experienced. Pain is seen. Harmony is released. Paths are illuminated. Reactions are understood. Behaviours are discerned. Clarity is discovered.

Taking into consideration the difficulty of attaining these states within the structures which we find ourselves born and shackled to, will human beings realistically follow this path, or will it remain viable for only the relatively few saints and sages who have the courage to de-programme, step foolishly into the darkness, sacrifice their attachments to their bodies and programmes, cultural values, secured by fear, shame, anger and anxiety?

Sources point to the possibility that this path will practically become open to increasing numbers of people. Some major factors in this progression are population size increase, economic and technological progression and information availability. The evolution of human consciousness is the evolution of information. Although all nodes are stimulated en route, including the most destructive and seemingly contradictory, the collective realisation, like the individual, towards optimum survival, can ultimately only go along one path.

What will happen next along this collective path, I believe, is the continuation of a realisation which took off in the 60s of creating life-styles collectively with the goal not simply to provide an alternative, an escape from 'everyday modern living', but to provide a space, a means and a motivating force for the increasing numbers of individuals who want to live their lives more in line with their inner truth. Society has been experimenting with these kinds of communities for several decades now and there is much yet to learn about about how human beings can live and evolve together successfully. The Utopian ideal seems so far away, so unrealistic, so drugged-up-hippy. The words 'Utopian ideal' in themselves almost seem blasphemous to most everyday 'realists', pragmatists, who have read and learned about attempts and failings and the horrors of humanity and imminent wars and corruption and mass homicide by the very people we are supposed to have faith in. But the Bushes and the Blairs and the Hitlers are part of life's beautiful paradox - they are nature's teeth and claws, it's dark crocodile-mouth-ever-present, lurking in the still muddy waters.

There is nothing to fight against, except my own ignorance. And even then I will learn to love it like the piece of skin I peel off my sunburnt shoulder with shameless satisfaction. The obstacles are my own. They are nature's precious sculptures which once commanded meaning in the temples I constructed for them. I used to think they had to be either right or wrong. Now I realise they are neither. They just use up space. And space is quite a precious thing - especially when you want to build something new.

May all beings be liberated from fear, anxiety, confusion and shame to realise the deeper levels of peace residing in the reservoirs of their being.

Prior to my training at the Acupressure Institute in Berkeley I had 3 semesters of college where I immersed myself in cultural anthropology, individual & social psychology, human sexual behavior, critical thinking, creative writing, poetry, and B/W Photography.

As my environmental & sociopolitical awareness has opened up over the years, I began working on fusing my education & interests together while integrating my affinity for the visionary creative culture, the fringe of human and technological development, and responsible, peaceful planetary stewardship.

I've been struggling to crystalize the concept and manifest it for the past 8 years. It still feels too broad to me, and that's why I need other minds involved.

Part of what has been making this difficult for me is seeing all the similar efforts out there. I want to have something unique enough to avoid redundancy -or even outright duplication. ...My other challenges are that I'm a perfectionist, a procrastinator, and easily distracted.

I need is someone to bounce back my thoughts and zero in towards putting this together in small steps -which I know is the only way this is going to happen.

I need someone skilled in graphic & web design, and has a good marketing/branding head on their shoulders to help me forward this project into the world at large.

Ultimately, I want to make a living through this, so there have been some business elements running through my head -although what I've come up with so far doesn't quite seem to fly well enough according to the feedback I've had before. Perhaps either grants &/or being paid as a consultant will be the path?

Part of what I see GAIAN doing is producing & promoting artists, products, and services that support its overall mission.

Essentially, I see this website being a place where people can tune in to the "Gaian Hypothesis" -to see the relevance of their lifestyles and how they directly or indirectly affect the environment &/or people in either their own communities, or elsewheres in the world.

There's that somewhat psychedelic aspect to the philosophy -understanding ourselves as part of a larger organism -which dreams through our very DNA, compelling our instincts and even our conscious motives.

The importance here is for humanity to understand how & why we're heading in the direction we are as a whole, what the consequences will be, and what we have at our disposal as a creative species to determine a collective course that will ensure not only our survival, but our capacity to thrive in a peaceful, abundant culture.

So that's where the sciences come into play -to educate people on the basics that will allow them to identify with the reality of this bio-socio-techno condition we're in.

The arts (visual, music, literature, etc.) are what inspire us into action and give us visions for yet unrealized potentials. We must have vision in order to direct our course. It's the arts that truly bond humans to everything else.

And when people have the knowledge, the interest, and the vision to create this new world of social, environmental, and economic sustainability, they will need links to resources to assist this transformation of vision into action (services, products, activism, etc.)

I think radical change will happen quickly when a critical threshhold of minds have breached the *felt* understanding that we're not simply mindless, faceless cogs in a vast machinery of some dark corporate dream, but independent, unique, beautiful, and necessary frequencies composing a great piece of music that we can all enjoy (or something like that).

* FYI *

I'm in a space of uncertainty at this time as I may move to London or Melbourne soon -or not. I'm going to London on Jan10 for a week, and I'm just going to see what happens.

We're building this party to be the largest and craziest outdoor that we've had to date! Everyone welcome, fire dancers, tribal drummers, freaks, geeks n goblins, and YOU! As suggested by one of our fellow full moon patrons that we should try and bring out an old school dj- we were able to get in touch with Matthew Gadfather who's been spinning house since 1991. He has played at such legendary parties as A Rave Called Sharon, The Gathering, Mega Buzz, Planet Rock, Origin, Love Affair and Fusion- just to name a few. You can expect a night of wicked Acid House along with a few surprises. Shambhala bound -Spiritual 4 day festival August 12-15th

Shambhala is coming...which is probably (as much as I love Burning Man) my
favorite party of the year. And this is coming from a Moontriber, 13Moontriber, Green Sector goer, Burner, Coachella attender, etc, etc, etc.
If it involves music and it's outside, I try my best to check it out. Set in the Kootenays, a mountain range in BC, Canada, with a river flowing through the center of the party and 6 stages, included my favorite: Ewok Village where you can climb up to platforms in the trees set around the DJ booth and dancefloor and dance looking down on it all. Sounds like heaven? It is! The lineup this year is epic, Aphrodite, Lorin, Tipper, Random Rab, etc. Check out www.shambhalamusicfestival.com for more info.

Anyway, I'm going to arrange a DreamCO(llective) camp, since it's like a minature Burning Man there...so anyone who's down to come and check it out from the tribe, come find us to have a face to face. There will be a huge Dream CO(llective) banner, so we won't be hard to spot. Anyone who wants to contribute to camp setup or decor, please drop me a line.

And for interest, here's the mythology of Shambhala itself, which the festival is named after:

Is there really a hidden galaxy of minds living in seclusion in an inaccessible part of Asia, or is it merely a myth? Shambhala, the "Hidden Kingdom," is thought of in Tibet as a community where perfect and semiperfect beings live and are guiding the evolution of humankind. Shambhala is considered to be the source of the Kalacakra, which is the highest and most esoteric branch of Tibetan mysticism. The Buddha preached the teachings of the Kalacakra to an assembly of holy men in southern India. Afterwards, the teachings remained hidden for 1,000 years until an Indian yogi-scholar went in search of Shambhala and was initiated into the teachings by a holy man he met along the way. The Kalacakra then remained in India until it made its way to Tibet in 1026. Since then the concept of Shambhala has been widely known in Tibet, and Tibetans have been studying the Kalacakra for the least 900 years, learning its science, practicing its meditation, and using its system of astrology to guide their lives. As one Tibetan lama put it, how could Shambhala be the source of something which has affected so many areas of Tibetan life for so long and yet not exist?

Tibetan religious texts describe the physical makeup of the hidden land in detail. It is thought to look like and eight-petaled lotus blossom because it is made up of eight regions, each surrounded by a ring of mountains. In the center of the innermost ring lies Kalapa, the capital, and the king’s palace, which is composed of gold, diamonds, coral, and precious gems. The capital is surrounded by mountains made of ice, which shine with a crystalline light. The technology of Shambhala is supposed to be highly advanced; the palace contains special skylights made of lenses which serve as high-powered telescopes to study extraterrestrial life, and for hundreds of years Shambhala’s inhabitants have been using aircraft and cars that shuttle through a network of underground tunnels. On the way to enlightenment, Shambhalans acquire such powers a clairvoyance, the ability to move at great speeds, and the ability to materialize and disappear at will.

The prophecy of Shambhala states that each of its kings will rule for 100 years. There will be 32 in all, and as their reigns pass, conditions in the outside world will deteriorate. Men will become more warlike and pursue power for its own sake, and an ideology of materialism will spread over the earth. When the "barbarians" who follow this ideology are united under an evil king and think there is nothing left to conquer, the mists will lift to reveal the icy mountains of Shambhala. The barbarians will attack Shambhala with a huge army equipped with terrible weapons. Then the 32nd king of Shambhala, Rudra Cakrin, will lead a mighty host against the invaders. In a last great battle, the evil king and his followers will be destroyed.

By definition Shambhala is hidden. It is thought to exist somewhere between the Gobi Desert and the Himalayas, but it is protected by a psychic barrier so that no one can find the kingdom who is not meant to. Tibetan lamas spend a great deal of their lives in spiritual development before attempting the journey to Shambhala. Those who try to get there who are not wanted are swallowed by crevasses or caught in avalanches. People and animals tremble at its borders as if bombarded by invisible rays. There are guidebooks to Shambhala, but they describe the route in terms so vague that only those already initiated into the teachings of the Kalacakra can understand them.

Strange sightings in the area where Shambhala is thought to be seem to provide evidence of its existence. Tibetans believe that the land is guarded by beings with superhuman powers. In the early 1900s an article in an Indian newspaper, the Statesman, told of a British major who, camping in the Himalayas, saw a very tall, lightly clad man with long hair. Apparently, noticing that he was being watched, the man leaped down the vertical slope and disappeared. To the major’s astonishment, the Tibetans with whom he was camping showed no surprise at his story; they calmly explained that he had seen one of the snowmen who guard the sacred land.

A more detailed account of these "snowmen" guardians was given by Alexandra David-Neel, an explorer who spent 14 years in Tibet. While traveling through the Himalayas she saw a man moving with extraordinary speed and described him as follows: "I could clearly see his perfectly calm impassive face and wide-open eyes with their gaze fixed on some invisible distant object situated somewhere high up in space. The man did not run. He seemed to life himself from the ground, proceeding by leaps. It looked as if he had been endowed with the elasticity of a ball, and rebounded each time his feet touched the ground. His steps had the regularity of a pendulum."

While people (especially Tibetan lamas) have been searching for Shambhala for centuries, those who seek the kingdom often never return, either because they have found the hidden country and have remained there or because they have been destroyed in the attempt. Tibetan texts containing what appear to be historical facts about Shambhala, such as the names and dates of its kings and records of corresponding events occurring in the outside world, give Tibetans additional reason for believing that the kingdom exists. Recent events that seem to correspond to the predictions of the mythic kingdom add strength to their belief. The disintegration of Buddhism in Tibet and the growth of materialism throughout the world, coupled with the wars and turmoil of the 20th century, all fit in with the prophecy of Shambhala.

Are you listening to what the universe is asking?

Allow the flow of the universe to guide you where you’re supposed to go. Choose to be utilized as a tool of change, transformation, healing and a recorder of stories and information. Follow the trail of subtle signs and secret signals that are there to guide your path. You will do anything you put your mind to…''but be aware it may not always come at the time or in the form you think it shall be. The mysterious twistings and turnings of life, the weft and weave of the Universal Tapestry, the ironic sense of humor that fate sometimes has means that we have to just laugh and be patient.

Be there for everyone. I'm here for you. And your neighbor down the street, too. So many people choose to place their time into personal paths and so few of us choose to do service for the world as a whole and humanity as a race. And now is exactly the time when we need to start service towards the WHOLE world, not just some isolated group or the immediate family. If you are in a place to do it, give love to anyone who needs it without giving away your personal power or draining yourself. If it's help that's truly needed, it shouldn't come at a cost to you, anyway, other than your time, your ear and your empathy.
My love for you all is massive, my empathy for your suffering is genuine and I've commited my life's path to raising the level of awareness and enlightenment to humanity so I WILL get to the places I'm supposed to be and meet those I'm supposed to meet because the universal flow supports, guides and energizes me. Tell me what you need and I'll tell you if I can help, introduce you to someone who can or at least give you my compassion and attention. I am as accepting of your personal weaknesses as I am proud of your personal strengths.

Yep, I'm once again a Canuck in her homeland. It took my pregnant little sister needing me to release the gentle grip that lovely, bass driven California culture had on me...and I must admit I'm missing the vibes already! But it's awesome to be home, surrounded by chill, relaxed people, clean air and the word 'eh' in constant usage...heh heh. Mad love to all you beautiful freaky people in California...and if I don't make it back down before August, I hope to see every last one of you at Shambhala.
As for the BC Dreamers in the collective, drop me a line. I'd love to get to know you face to face like I've had a chance to do with so many of our American compatriots.

Solstice partyin Alaska-Have fun you guys!!!!!!!!

Wish I could be there but it seems that my serious lack of funds and the not so serious words of some folks who were to financially aid the Dream Collective project and bailed out means I can't make it...I know, I know, I put it in motion and I won't even get to see the fruits of my labors of love and massive outputting of energies this past 6 months, but hey, that's how the flow of life goes sometimes. Please post photos and reports to the site, I'd love to hear how it turns out. There is also a Burning Man regional party in Alaska the 4th of July weekend, so check that out too.
Sometimes the members of my tribe express frustration at the lightning fast here-today-and-gone-again method of adventuring I seem to employ...it's hard to keep up with my comings and goings and my rapidly shifting, ever changing travel plans. Because I allow the flow of the universe to guide me where I'm supposed to go, because I choose to be utilized as a tool of change, transformation, healing and a recorder of stories and information, because I follow a trail of subtle signs and secret signals that are there to guide my path, I'm aware that I can be a hard person to know and love sometimes...so many people want to hold me in one place or have my attention solely to themselves or want me to put all my time and energies into their personal projects or help them heal their lives.
But I'm here for everyone. I'm here for you. And your neighbor down the street, too. So many people choose to place their time into personal paths and so few of us choose to do service for the world as a whole and humanity as a race. So don't be mad when I can't be everywhere at once, don't be jealous when my attention becomes momentarily diverted by the needs of another. Be aware that my love for you all is massive, my empathy for your suffering is genuine and I've commited my life's path to raising the level of awareness and enlightenment to humanity so I WILL get to the places I'm supposed to be and meet those I'm supposed to meet because the universal flow supports, guides and energizes me.
Tell me what you need and I'll tell you if I can help, introduce you to someone who can or at least give you my compassion and attention. But also realize that I barely sleep most days as it is because there is just so MUCH to do and I haven't managed to clone myself quite yet...so what I ask of you all is to be as accepting of my time constraints and limits as to how much I can do and when as I am of your personal weaknesses and as proud as I am of your personal strengths.
And know that if I'm not there for you, I would be there if I could.
Believe me.

Projecting Our Own Experiences Into Our Theories of Consciousness?

Starting with the question of how one knows one is dreaming, and expanding to
Goutom Ghosh's suggestion of a Zero-Person approach to supplement the usual
first, second and third person approaches to studying consciousness, many ideas
have recently been expressed here at jcs-online on what is possible and what
isn't possible.

I am reminded of Henry Ford's statement, "Those who think they can and those who
think they can't are both right."

To put this discussion in some (partly historical) perspective, back in 1972 I
proposed the creation of state-specific sciences, where investigators would
supplement ordinary state of consciousness science with investigations of both
internal phenomenology and perceptions of the external world using essential
scientific method (observe, hypothesize, test theories) in various altered
states of consciousness (ASCs) (Tart, C., States of consciousness and
state-specific sciences. Science, 176, 1203-1210 - on line at
www.paradigm-sys.com/cttart/). Ghosh's Zero-Person approach would be one such
state-specific science, carried out by those investigators capable of entering
the requisite meditative ASC. The reaction to my proposal was quite similar to
what is happening now.

The article drew more than a hundred letters to the editor of Science, a rather
amazing result since most scientific articles draw zero letters. Space was only
allotted to print four of these and allow me a brief reply, but it was
interesting to survey the letters as a whole. They fell into two distinct
categories. The Anti's rather vehemently stated that only our ordinary state of
consciousness was rational and of any value, all altered states (including
dreaming) were nonsense if not pathological, so you couldn't possibly do science
in any ASC. Why had Science wasted valuable print space on my article? The
Pro's all said state-specific sciences were a great idea, let's get started on
it.

What was especially interesting was that I could pretty well judge the age of
all the letter writers from their academic ranks, and the Anti's and Pro's
showed quite a split. The Anti's were senior people, the Pro's young ones. It
is easy to imagine the older Anti's as people set in their ways, the young Pro's
as still exploring and experimenting with their own minds.

Is that the case in the current discussion? Our informal style of posting
usually doesn't have titles, so it's hard to judge. But wouldn't it be
interesting if the commentators on the Zero-Person suggestion mentioned their
ages?

As I mentioned in an earlier post regarding dream theories, I've long suspected
that those who theorize that dreams are essentially meaningless noise have
impoverished dream lives, while those who theorize about deeper meaning have
rich dream lives. Do we have a parallel here? Would people who comment on
dreams like to say something about their own dream lives and how that might
affect their theorizing? Would people who comment on the Zero-Person approach
or similar meditative approaches to consciousness also say something about their
actual personal experience with meditation?

We have a wonderful goal of objectivity in science, to come up with theories and
understandings that are universally applicable and independent of the persons
proposing them. But I fear we're still a long way from that in studying
consciousness. In important ways, the experimenter is part of the experiment,
the theorist is part of the theory. Pretending to an objectivity as if we
routinely have it simply makes it harder to understand findings and theories, as
we don't know the full specification (experimenter characteristics) they were
produced under. And, perhaps as bad or worse, ignoring aspects of consciousness
because they are not easily objectified makes our approaches quite incomplete.

The mundane world offers little room for dreams. Humans exist in a reality that they can explain rationally, but still cannot understand. All the “great” institutions conspire to tell them that the good die young, the brave come home in boxes, and that only the financially strong survive. Dreams — such as they are — come in sanitized, preprogrammed packages: the corporate dream, the jet-set dream, the dream of retirement and the virtual dream. For most people, dreams are a luxury they cannot afford. The young have nothing to look forward to except unemployment or, if they're lucky, meaningless jobs that pay minimum wage. When a military career looks attractive, things are dull, indeed. The old must deal with unfulfilled lives and a society that turns its back on them. Even those who have it made — CEOs, rock stars, drug lords, politicians — are surrounded by tawdriness and mundanity. The high aspirations that once fueled human achievement and creativity have degenerated into the lowest common expectations.

Changelings radiate hope in a drab world. The embodiments
of creativity and the power to dream, these remnants of the fae
protect and nurture those fading shreds of wonder and imagination that remain. Without changelings, reality would fall victim to Banality; anything that could not be seen or touched or experienced by the physical senses would no longer exist. Long ago, the fae served as muses to humanity, inspiring artists and musicians, craftsmen and philosophers, prophets and leaders to expand the boundaries of their minds and hearts to encompass new thoughts and works of beauty. Now changelings have an even more important purpose. In an era when science threatens magic, reducing the supernatural to a series of physiochemical reactions or to a mechanical progression of causes and effects, changelings uphold the reality of the inexplicable. They tip the balance of the senses, fray the edges of the mind, and defy the “natural laws” that consign the creatures of the world to one fixed form. Changelings announce to the human world that dreams exist. As their name suggests, they represent the essence of mutability. Reality does not have to lie stagnant or conform to rules. The children of the Dreaming, by their very existence, break the rules and shatter the conventions of everyday life. They are testament to the fact that what is does not have to be. Yet changelings must tread carefully, for danger looms in all directions. Powerful forces exist that oppose any change of the status quo. Dreams are subversive, for they contradict the world as we know it. Changelings, even the most traditional ones, are revolutionaries and rebels, undermining the stark determinism of modern life. They allow humans to indulge in rare moments in which it seems possible to cure the world's ills — to save the rain forests, to feed the hungry, to house the homeless — and to bring the light of imagination into the shadowy corners of the mundane realm.

Disbelief threatens the very existence of changelings. The curtain of doubt and rationality that humans raised centuries ago to explain away their fears not only separates the mortal world from the Dreaming, but also snuffs out the spark of creativity that ignites into hope and imagination. Changelings call this universal negation of the creative spirit Banality, for it seeks to reduce the marvelous to the mundane, the miraculous to the ordinary, and the inexplicable to the impossible. Many old Kithain refer to this
destructive force of disbelief and cynicism as the Endless Night or the Long Winter, for it epitomizes darkness, dreariness and relentless cold. Banality is the death of the spirit. Banality clouds the minds of mortals to the wonders of the world, and blinds them to the possibilities of making their dismal lives better. Banality imposes the belief that everything is the result of cause and effect. Evolutionary processes and entropic decay follow fixed patterns, and all things will eventually come to a grinding halt with the death of the sun. Banality is the wet blanket of the cosmos. In more immediate terms, Banality prompts a jaded parent to destroy a child's belief in Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny. It forces a talented student to lay aside his dreams of becoming a great writer or musician in favor of joining the work force because his advisors counsel him to make “realistic” decisions about his future.

chameleon has said that money and travel is still an issue for some. i have traveled through the states a lot with truckers, and spending an afternoon (maybe a fundraiser bake sale the food at those truck stops sucks) at a truck stop might show you big beds with cars that drive a lot, fast. rides are free. i sold my underwear once for $100. ahh! otherwise check craigslist, from seattle or san fran or l a or whatever, may i suggest. there's a rideshare part and you might be able to get up for even less than gas... i'll give more when i can.

if anybody is traveling and can help carry the dome (this is something i'd really like to happen), please try to contact dummy at 206 547 2980 or my dad, glenn, at 360 507 1335 and they'll hook you up. my dad can cook pretty good too and dummy can fix things. he helped me convert my truck to run on veg oil. i've been working on the gardens and getting ready for y'all. i'm really excited. anybody coming soon? oh yeah and there are morels up here now, you can pick em for money. there you go, problems solved. come on up, they're betwen tok and eagle right now.

EMERGENCY FUND

I'm a firm believer in "Cry me a river, Build a bridge, and Get over it!" Now is the time to build that bridge.

I've fallen on hard times or maybe they fell on me. But I know I can get over it, with a little help from my friends.

Here's my story:
After graduating Massage Therapy school I moved out of my fathers house and my boyfriend and I began preparing for a cross-country road trip to Florida to visit my mother and step-father. Since April we've hit every road block imaginable:

- I've had no luck selling my Queen size, pillow top bed w/ box spring. (like new, paid over $700, will take $300obo)
- We've been robbed.
- My aunt went to jail and I had to help take care of my baby cousin for my grandmother.
- I've been flaked on numerous times for massage.
- All the moving around (from Irvine to South Central L.A., and now Venice...thank GOD), we have accumulated a few parking tickets and now both of our car registrations are held up.
- And the list goes on and on...

Now I feel the clock is ticking and I have to take drastic measures and ask the Univerese for help. My step-father, one of the most zen like wonderful beings in the Universe, has become very ill. Pancreaitis led to a massive coronary and kidney failure. My mother and the rest of the family can't afford to get me out there so they suggested I try asking some friends for help. This is very hard for me to do and I thank you all for your love and support.

The Dream CO(llective) (dreamcollective.tribe.net/) invites you to come and celebrate the beauty humanity is capable of creating on Summer Solstice, the day of non stop light, in the haunting beauty of Alaska. We're a travelling show of human artistry, composed of dancers, fire performers, circus folk, hula hoopers, musicians and electronic composers, psychedelic artists, pirate radio crew, film people, organic food chefs, and those wise in the ways of alternative resources, sustainable practices and natural healing remedies, etc. All our events are done by DONATION, no one who wants to attend gets turned away for being poor. Our launch party is on May 20th in Venice Beach, LA at 2210 Lincoln (one block north of Lincoln and Venice) and we'll be heading out shortly after, creating a ripple effect of positivity by travelling up the coast, interacting with those we meet, until we end up in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Alaska is the final frontier, North America's Amazon Rainforest, a place of phenomenal beauty that's been used and abused, drilled for oil, overfished, sustained numerous military tests of all kinds, the list goes on and on. The hole in the ozone layer is like a giant X marks the spot over Alaska, showing what humans have done. But enough is enough. We are entering a point of time in our evolution where people are exerting massive amounts of effort to positively transform the face of humanity. And we must feel that the time for change is approaching, as many of us are headed out across the face of the globe to bring messages of transformation and enlightenment to those who still have the veil over their eyes. And those old school capitalistic forces are working just as hard right now to keep the veil ON...
So, how do we open the eyes of those working in all sorts of harmful capacities in Alaska, and positively reinforce those souls who love Alaska for it's beauty and fight to keep it safe. Enough angry words and pointed fingers. When does that ever make YOU listen? Isn't our guard lowest when we are happy and relaxed. And aren't we more likely to listen to people when we feel friendly towards them? Throwing an awesome party is a pretty excellent way to make friends. And anyone who's been to a great outdoor party knows how there's a sense of fellowship among those who attend. What better time to open someone's eyes? So come join us for Summer Solstice, a time of non-stop LIGHT. How do I evolve - Part II

Another fundamental evolutionary theme which I've been thinking about recently is
B - A - L - A - N - C - E.

The idea of balance makes a lot of sense to us and we know it generally seems like a 'good' thing.

But what does it mean?

What are the polarities which require balance?

1) Masculine and Feminine -

The sexual polarity is perhaps the most obvious. We all embody both masculine and feminine energies. In recent decades it's become socially acceptable and even desirable for men to express greater femininity and women to express greater masculinity. But is this all there is to re-balancing male and female energies within us?
Last week I discovered what femininity was. I am a woman and I have lived on this planet in this form for nearly twenty eight years and last week I realised that I still didn't know what femininity truly was. What I knew about femininity was what had been taught to me by society, the education system and most of all, the media. Because most of these were controlled by men as I was growing up (and still are pretty much today) the image and flavour of femininity presented to me was femininity from the perspective of the male. Why else did feminine equate with sexual whenever I encountered this concept presented in the world? What happened the other week was that I entered a building in Glastonbury known as the Goddess Temple and was utterly struck by how the energy, feeling, and vibrations inside were truly feminine but in such a different way to that which I had experienced before. The experience was overwhelming and I was almost reduced to tears. It felt so natural and beautiful but it was so refreshingly different to anything I had come across before. I am not saying that femininity has nothing to do with sex - of course it is sexual. The images in this goddess temple were of naked women baring their breasts in their full glory and beauty. But what was presented here was the feminine perspective of femininity. Not femininity in relation to masculinity. Women's true _expression of womanhood, rather than the presentation of the woman from a man's world which is inevitably going to have something to do with his sexual interest and power in relation to it.
This revelation has been so refreshing and since completing a sweat lodge which also I think helps to balance masculine and feminine energies by connecting the being (mind - heart -body) back with nature and the elements in a very primal way - I have really felt much more comfortable with this balance of energies in my being.
What I am saying is that it's easy to take for granted that you already know what these different energies are. It's easy to think 'I already know that. I know what masculinity is, I know what femininity is.' But I challenge you to ask this 'How do you know? Where have these ideas come from? Is there more to learn? Do you sense any gaps in your knowledge?' If so, and if you are open and willing to explore and discover more, have this intention and the opportunities to do so will come your way, naturally.
I hope both men and women will be able to express increasingly what it means to be masculine and to be feminine from both perspectives because I feel we still have a great deal to learn and explore in this respect.

2) Light and Dark/Positive and Negative -

Having explored various spiritual philosophies I have sometimes found an imbalance or bias towards 'light' or 'positivity' in which so called 'negative' energies are seen as 'bad' and to be avoided or strictly controlled. Whilst this technique can be interesting and useful to study and practise, in my experience it fails to adequately acknowledge and make use of the more dynamic, creative and deep-rooted energies such as anger, fear, pain, shame, guilt and their associated expressions and patterns within behaviour. Exploring and having the space and safety to express these often deep and intense energies can be immensely liberating and in my own experience can aid (re)connectivity within the mind-heart-body complex. There is also a fascinating creative potential contained in these shadows of our being. If we in tune with ourselves and are balanced between the light and the dark, we can safely explore the darkness for the purposes of self-insight, tool-making and creative excavation. There's a reason why we're fascinated with the dark side - it's energies excite us and this excitement does not need to reflect social malaise or lack of morality. It reflects, I believe, the energy it contains which can be used, if we so chose, for our growth and evolution.

3) Mind - Heart - Body -

We are so very good at being logical in the West. So knowledgeable and rational. We can even rationalise away our own neuroses. The mind is very clever and we now have so much information at our disposal about just about anything imaginable that it's hard to know what knowledge to pursue and what to ignore. Not only is this choice difficult, but we are continually being bombarded with data which gets unwittingly impregnated into our neurons day in, day out without even realising it. Science has become the new religion, logic the new path, 'sanity' the safety box and the measuring stick with which to draw lines between what makes sense to us and what doesn't in an ever more scary world.
When you're running naked through the trees and dancing round a tribal fire, it's odd how all this is completely forgotten. Funnily enough, the mind suddenly turns off and something else kicks in - something which feels great and so so liberating. The heart and the body. We have become so individualistic, so crowded, so crammed full of data and so pre-occupied that something has happened to the large majority of us living and working in the modern western world. We have forgotten how to feel. We have forgotten our connection with nature, with the earth and to see how this connection leads to the realisation that we are actually the same thing. We ARE nature. Literally. We don't own the earth, we ARE the earth. This might make some kind of logical sense to you as you are reading these words but this sense means almost nothing if you don't E X P E R I E N C E this to be so. Experience is the password into your true being. Experience is the passport into evolution. But you cannot experience fully if you're still holding on to past pain, trauma, stress, anxiety, fear, guilt, shame, and defence mechanisms. We can go to counselling and talk about all these things and this can certainly help, but until we FEEL these parts of ourselves fully, until we feel them truly and deeply within our hearts and deep down into the cells of our bodies, we cannot move past them into liberation. Liberation is not a mental phenomenon. It is a total, whole, complete experience which resonates through every inch of your body. We came from the mud and the trees and the caves and then reasoned ourselves away into separation. This process is now moving full circle and the inevitable way forward is back the way we came - except this time nature is fully aware of herself.

These are of course just a few ideas. Please feel free to add your own comments and perspectives about them or any other principles of balance you find important.

There will be circus people and performance artists intermingling with the crowds to make it an interactive art experience, coupled with music, both electronic and organic, knowledgeable people on alternative resources and health, preparers and servers of gourmet organic foods, etc. Our shows are tailored to promote good feelings and represent ALL ORIGINAL WORK, along with the pirate radio station and veggie diesel buses to transport us. A film crew will be coming along to document the process and we will be posting party locations, music and film footage on our website, currently in process of being created in exchange for astrology readings. More on that next post.
And all the shows will all be BY DONATION. Funded by the people, for the people in support of human artistry....

This is crucial for the people involved to understand, that money for this is secondary to giving people an eye opening experience. Besides, when people give what they want to give, especially when the donation barrels are right in front of the performers you are watching, so you feel like you're giving directly to them (which they are, I'm not planning to earning anything from this other than happiness) people are more likely to give what they feel like giving...which is often more than what they would have buying a ticket a month before they even knew what the event was about. And those that can't afford it, well then we have the pleasure of knowing that we are giving them an experience that may just alter their lives a little. Because everyone I take with me aboard the Dream CO crew has something to give in the way of wisdom and positivity, anyone who interacts with us will hopefully walk away feeling more charged up. This is the main purpose of Dream CO, getting people funds for their creative works and getting them exposure, while charging up everyone we meet.

o, here's what's been going on....

-Have a donation of land to host the 24 hour daylight party on June 21st in Fairbanks, Alaska from Lynx, as you all might have read. We will be taking the crew north on either the ferry, with stops to perform, or the performers will be doing dates on one of the cruise lines in exchange for a free Alaska cruise. Currently figuring out which will be more gratifying.

-Have a land donation on Vancouver Island, an hour north of Victoria, BC for a weekend Dreaming Festival on 10 acres of land at a hostel on a mountain, surrounded by forest, with a hottub, etc. I'm working out a date for that right now. Other BC dates will fall around this time. After this, we will begin our voyage eastward. More details coming.

-Having a fundraiser in LA on May 20th for with live electronic compositions by Atomik Dog (who's been honing his skills in Europe for a LONG while) and his partner Novatron, from Seattle, DJs, circus performance art, belly dancers, psychedelic visionary creations by Jarod Knapp and Alien Oddyssey costume theme. This is to raise road funds for road money, materials, etc. This will either be at the Blue Bongo or at the VAMU site in Venice. Donations of fabrics, lights and other decorations are also MUCH appreciated.

-I'm currently doing several astrological reading trades in exchange for a Dream CO(llective) website to be built so we can upload film footage and audio files, as well as post dates and locations as we decide them and have a bulletin board and links to artists websites.

-Jarod Knapp, a visionary artist in Seattle, is the person we've chosen to work with the Dream CO(llective) promoting his works and in turn, using his visions to bring awareness to the Dream CO(llective). Check out his stuff at www.jerodknapp.com, it's stunning and lovely.

-Opened up a business Paypal account for Dream CO(llective) so people can donate money as many have asked me about it but I didn't want to take the funds personally. Now we have an account that all the Dream CO members can access, so we can utilize it for gas money, plane and ferry tickets, sound expenses, etc. We're working on getting credit cards issues as well, I'm Canadian so I can't do it myself but hopefully one of our Dreamers will step up to the plate for that aspect.

I know I've left out so much, but wanted to update you guys on what's happening, I've been working my butt off, spending hours emailing and phoning people every day and putting in mass amounts of time and energy into the Dream CO(llective) to pull this off, so I've been absent on the posts lately. But things are HAPPENING and it's so exciting, I can't wait to hit the road with all these wonderful folk and get a chance to visit all of you with our roaming Dream crew!

help get the dome to alaska

i have an offer to trade something i'm willing to give up for a 32' dome, 16' ceiling... it weighs 500 pounds, needs to be brought to alaska and needs some covering. a big one. i'd like it to be a camp while you all are visiting, to start out by putting it up, but i don't know how to get it to alaska and would love to hear somebody say "oh yeah, i'll head this project up". i'm trying to decide what to do.

How do I evolve?

If you do, how do you do it?

No doubt you have already mastered astral travel, astrology, chakra healing, crystal healing, herbalism, mayan technology, past life regression, permaculture, psychedelic journeying, psycho-sexual therapy, reiki, shiatstu, shamanism, tibetan buddhist philosophy, transcendental meditation, yoga and the list goes on and on and on - and that's brilliant - these are fantastic techniques.

But now that we have all these glorious tools, what do we do with them?

What shall we build?

What do we need to create?

What do we need destroy to make room for this?

What personal sacrifices do I need to make for this to happen?

What, really, is important to me, and what really isn't?

What do I really want? What do I really believe in?

For many people these won't be relevant questions, but for increasing numbers of us, they are becoming so important that we are willing to make the necessary sacrifices. Our hearts are aligned. Our minds are attuned. We ReAlise what is important in this life time, and what isn't. The thing which seems to me to be the real stumbling block is action. Inputting all this goodness that we are into reality for our wider communities to see and share and learn from. Although all internal work we do automatically benefits everyone else, I think the kind of changes needed to re-balance and heal our planet will be more radical than anything we have seen before. We need to shift the value paradigms of our cultures from numbed, disillusioned, cynical, materialist, consumerist, 'Democracy Ltd'-brainwashed, powerless and confused robot-monkey-slaves to energised, illuminated, inspired, curious, questioning, re-awakened human beings who can rekindle some glimmer of hope to see a possibility, a realistic practical and tangiable reality.

Some fundamental principles needed to achieve this goal are;

- Intensive and ongoing individual work with yourself - continually exploring, questioning, experiencing, opening, seeing, re-wiring, dismantling old, creating new and, above all, knowing what it is YOU want and following that over and above anything else.

- Collaboration. On a scale which spans and transcends geographic boarders and belief system. We currently have thousands of groups dispersed all over the globe saying essentially the same things but limiting their own power by maintaining their belief systems rather than pooling resources, skills and energies to unify goals. It's becoming increasingly clear we all want the same things, we just need to use the same language, organise and work very very hard together.

- Communication to bridge the energy into the wider community. This is what it all comes down to in the end. We might find it relatively easy to see sense in these values, to live our lives differently and to understand these new emerging languages, but we must continually look to the wider community. We must understand how we can connect and communicate in ways which wide varieties people with different backgrounds, values and beliefs can access and understand. To output what we learn, gain, and grow to others, we must be careful not to fall into the trap of alienating ourselves, creating a divide to protect our egos, and using jargon which intimidates and separates us further from those we want to communicate with. As more and more people see that what we are saying is essentially what we all want anyway - health, freedom, space, a clean planet, real democracy, unbiased education systems and social structures which directly enable these to evolve - then the momentum and power which is needed to successfully challenge the current paradigm can be achieved.

- Creation. This is as aspect of individual, collaborative and communicative work. It is art, freedom, heart and passion. It is the force of evolution. It's what you want, what you want to do with others and how you want to express yourself to the world. Without creation there is no progression. Therfore we will be forever creating and re-creating.

I can't think of any better reason to live. Even if I had children, I wouldn't want to bring them into the depleting withering filthy toxic greed-obsessed planet which we have right now. How could I do that and then sit back and let their bodies become increasingly poisoned by the air, food, water and information which gets vomited out each second by a few fat coorporations which own most of the planet but have the mentality of a herd of psychopaths?

If you think I'm exaggerating, or even if you don't, I highly recommend the film documentary called 'The Corporation'.

Dreaming Together

Hello Chameleon,

I saw your posts and tribe online and fell compelled to write. I am part of a non-profit group called Dreamtime that holds a very similar vision to what you describe - travelling higher conscious show with organic food, conscious music, art, sharing and teaching alternative ways to live outside the box, eat healthy, heal yourself naturally, etc. And of course transported by bio-diesel buses. We seem to be walking such similar and wonderful paths that I thought I would make the connection, and explore with you ways we might support eachother/collaborate/etc.

Dreamtime has not yet manifested this vision of travelling performance on a larger scale, but it is coming soon. Our core group of organizers tours and performs and teaches with music, firedancing, healing, tarot, etc. We have been approached by a conscious group that is interested in taking our work and message accross the country.

We have been focusing more of our energies on creating an annual festival in the mountains of Colorado where we are based (which serves as an anchor point for the rest of our activities).

Dreamtime's mission is to inspire, educate, connect and empower people to create positive change in the world through a dynamic blend of arts, education, and celebration.

We are also in the midst of securing land, facilities and funding to support year round events, workshops, education, etc. We are looking forward to all of this being in place in the next year or so, and continuing to grow from there.

I would certainly invite you to come and join us or visit us in Colorado if you are called to do so - we would love to visit with you, dream together, manifest together. solstice dream train

hi, this is alaska here, presently in cambodia, soon to be in seattle but i'll be up to my place near ester by the end of may, certainly, and i was wondering what ideas, if any, people had about the solstice retreat. my cabin is 16x30 with three beds, and it's hard to say how many roommates or what i'll have by then, but i'm going up to try to improve the composting toilet situation, create showers (no running water but a creek not too far away) and whatever else i can do to increase comfort joy and permaculturist ideals. there's plenty of space around, things happening all day in fairbanks and ester (both really close, 10-30 miles) that would be fun to descend upon and draw the weirdos out to whatever party we dream up. my biggest concern is that the tundra is really fragile, one of the most fragile ground covers in the world, so we'll have to be really clear about where any trampling can occur. but i'm on 5 acres with two plots next to me, a nearly endless trail system, river 2 miles away. and you are welcome. i'm excited to hear your ideas. my birthday by the way is december 21 77 and i used to always have half birthday parties instead as a kid. look like i get another one! hurray for solstice!

Dream Co(llective) is the attempt to establish a travelling higher conscious show with organic food, conscious music, psychedelic art, clothing and cool shit made from recycled materials, along with information on alternative ways to live outside the box, eat healthy, heal yourself naturally, etc. All broadcast by pirate radio/internet radio of course, and transported by bio-diesel buses. Every party thrown is by DONATION, let people pay what they can afford so everyone who wants to, gets to come. It's about the experience and how hanging with a group of higher conscious, evolved people can change your whole outlook...your life...how you go on to tell others about your experience and a little more awareness begins to spread throughout the world, as if by magic. And it is a type of magic...
By donation, because helping others comes first and money should ALWAYS be a secondary goal. If you know me, you know I do my work with astrological guidance and Goddess oracle advice on the same principle, helping people comes first and everything else is secondary.

Talent, fabrics, funding, equipment, your energy, your presence, all this can help make this dream a reality. I'm trying to funnel all my resources into this project as well, don't think that I'm asking for help with someone I'm not willing to commit energy to myself.
